Men’s Team Challenge

Men’s Team Challenge consists of two male players who are a minimum of 18 years of age and must be members of the Turner Valley Golf Club. All players are required to have an established handicap; however, if a player does not yet have one, the committee will assign a temporary handicap, and that player will compete at 90% of the assigned value until an official handicap is established. Substitutes are permitted, but they must play to 75% of their handicap from the tees being played, with that figure then multiplied by 90%.

Opening Day (May 8th) is the only day on which a bonus point may be awarded, and matches will be scheduled as tee times, with details to be determined. Each Opening Day match will count for the standard three points, with an additional bonus point awarded to the outright match winner, and this will be the sole occasion during the season when a bonus point match may be played.

Following is the Men’s Team Challenge summer schedule:

May 8th  – 3:30 PM opening day – please register no later than Tuesday May 5th.

July 4th  – Stampede Shootout

August 21st  – 5:30 PM Regular Season ends.

August 22nd  to 27th  – Qualifying for teams finishing 9th – 24th, bye for teams finishing 1st – 8th.

August 28th to September 3rd – 16 teams playoff

September 5th to 11th  – 8 teams playoff

September 12 – Semi Finals

September 13 – Finals and 2 man scramble

The regular season will consist of a maximum of eight matches, after which the top 16 teams will advance to the playoffs, although this number may be adjusted by the committee depending on the total number of entrants. At the conclusion of the regular season, prizes will be awarded to the top four teams, with prize amounts also determined by overall participation. Spares are permitted during the regular season provided they are members of TVGC and compete using 75% of their adjusted handicap, followed by 90%.

For the 2026 playoffs, the top 16 teams will again qualify, subject to committee discretion based on entries, and any spare used during playoff competition will play at 50% of their handicap, followed by 90%.
